Movember is a charity event in which men can grace their upper lip with the wild furs that once made us men. It is also an opportunity to raise money for a community project that is near and dear to our hearts. In Australia and NZ, Movember was started as a way to raise awareness of men’s health problems, specifically testicular cancer and depression. The Seoul Survivors, however, have decided to get behind the Seondeokwon (선덕원) Girls Orphanage.
모벰버는 어떤 뜻일까?
모벰버는 남자들이 그들의 윗 입술 위의 콧수염을 길러 참가함으로써 자리를 빛낼 수 있는 일종의 자선 이벤트 이다. 또한 우리 가까이에 있는 지역 사회를 위해 기부금을 마련할 수 있는 기회이자 소중한 우리 마음을 표현 할 수 있는 시간이기도 하다. 모벰버는 특히, 고환 암과 우울증 등의 남성 건강 문제 자각을 불어 일으키기 위한 한 방법으로 호주와 뉴질랜드를 중심으로 시작되었다. 그러나 서울 서바이벌스는 ‘선덕원’이라는 착한 소녀들이 살고 있는 고아원을 돕기 위해 이 이벤트를 만들기로 결정했다.
What is the 선덕원 Girls Orphanage?
The orphanage is the Seoul Survivors chosen community project. Founded in 1965, the orphanage provides a refuge for some of Korea’s most vulnerable citizens. The Survivors believe that the girls’ orphanage is as worthy a cause as any other out there and we’re willing to grow our moustaches to show it.
선덕원은 어떤 곳일까?
서울 서바이벌스 럭비 팀이 후원하고 있는 고아원으로, 1965년 설립이 되어 가장 연약하고 상처받기 쉬운 한국 소녀들에게 따뜻하고 가족적인 안식처를 제공하고 있다. 서울 서바이벌스는 다른 어떤 곳보다 더 따뜻한 손길이 필요한 선덕원의 친구들을 위해 돕는 것이 가치 있는 일이라 여기고 그들의 콧수염을 길러 후원금을 모으는 일에 앞장서고 있다.
How can I help the cause?
You can help by parting with what you can to sponsor a Survivor’s hairy upper lip and show your support for the girls’ orphanage. All the money raised will be handed over to the orphanage. On the 28th of November, we’ll get together at Scrooge Pub to tally our funds and give out some prizes to those with the best lip growth.
그럼 우리는 어떻게 그들을 도울 수 있을까?
우리는 콧수염을 기른 서울 서바이벌스 팀의 참가자를 후원함으로써 선덕원의 천사들을 도울 수 있고 그 모아진 후원금은 전부 선덕원에 전달될 것이다.
11월 28일 모두 이태원에 있는 스크루지에 모여 그 후원금을 계산하여 최고의 콧수염을 가진 선수를 뽑게 된다. 흥미로운 콧수염 왕 선발대회를 후원하고 작은 천사들을 만나보자!
