Seoul Survivors beat Shanghai Hairy Crabs
Saturday, 29 May 2010 19:20

Igroup_photon a very close and physical game, the Survivors defended their 100% home record, to defeat the Shanghai Hairy Crabs by 17 points to 14. The Crabs, travelling with over 30 players, are current holders of the Yellow Sea Cup, and hadn't been defeated in the competition since 2007. This result sees the Survivors stay top of the 2010 YSC, with 2 wins from 2 games - making the fall trip to Beijing a huge event, and one that could bring the YSC back to Korea. Check out some photos in our photo gallery.

A huge day of rugby saw not only the Survivors taking to the field, but also the SS Killer Bees, the Seoul Sisters, and the Korean Women's Rugby Team. The Killer Bees had a good game of Rugby 10s, against the Shanghai B team, finishing 10-10, and the Shanghai Sharks women's rugby team played against the both the Seoul Sisters and Korean Womens Team.

Survivors Orphanage Visit
Wednesday, 26 May 2010 19:02
orphanage_groupA group of Seoul Survivors and friends went out to Sun Duk Girls' Orphanage on Sunday May 23rd for some fun and games.  We joined the kids in watching some traditional Korean music followed by some games and songs.  We originally planned to have a big Barbeque outside but due to rain we moved the festivities inside and ordered in some dinner.  On a fundraising note Nanta Theater was kind enough to donate some tickets to help raise some money through our weekly raffles.  Nanta has also graciously invited the kids and Survivors to come out and see the show which is something that we will all be looking forward to!

SurvVCrabsThe top two ranked Yellow Sea Cup teams clash in an epic battle at Fortress Jamwon on Saturday, May 29th, to determine the frontrunner for this year's competition.

Shanghai's squad will need all its clinical nous to overcome the Survivors' excitement machine at the riverside where the locals remain unbeaten in front of their feverish home crowd support.

A full day of rugby will feature three back-to-back games, The Seoul Sisters will kick things off, at 1.45, with a demo game against the Shanghai Ladies. They'll be followed, at 2.30, by the main event - the Survivors vs. the Hairy Crabs. The SS Killer Bees will close out the show, with a 4 o'clock game of rugby 10s against the Shanghai B team.

Korea relegated from a5n Top 5
Sunday, 23 May 2010 11:55

the_horseOn a rain-soaked Saturday afternoon, Korea started very brightly against Kazakhstan - rushing to an early 17-0 lead. Two tries from the forwards, including celebrity prop Kim Gwong Sik, and a great running try from the backs, saw Korea back to their old ways - and looking to dominate the Kazakhstanis. However, man-of-the-match Anton 'the-horse' Rudoy had different ideas. His try, combined with some good kicking saw Kazakhstan close the gap to 20-13 at half time. Korea started the second half the same as the first with a quick try through the forwards. But fatigue and the rainy conditions started to affect the Koreans, and Kazakhstan were able to run in three more tries (including two more to Rudoy). The game ended 32-25, but it could have been different if not for a try-saving tackle from Rudoy in the last minutes, which resulted in him being sin-binned for the remainder of the game.
