The Seoul Colts, reinforced by players from the Survivors and Han River Pirates, finished a credible second in the Korean Touch Association's final tournament of the year at Jamwon on Saturday.
The team swept through pool play winning all three of their matches to qualify top of the group. The Colts had to dig deep to prevail in a sudden death ‘drop-off’ during a controversial semi-final match up where the team were often left scratching their heads at some of the referee's decisions.
In the final the team faced an experienced Hangang Exiles line-up and produced a match well worthy of the occasion. The teams couldn’t be separated during normal time, so, with the score locked at 3 touchdowns apiece the teams once again went into sudden death overtime. In a tense final few minutes, with both teams reduced to three players via the drop off system, a crucial offensive error gifted possession to the Exiles inside the Colts half enabling them to score the tournament winning touchdown.
The individual star of the day for the Colts was 12 year old, Blaise Barnes, whose elusive running and massive sidestep left many of his opponents clutching at thin air.
