korea_universityEleven of the bravest Survivors made the trek to Korea University on what was a cold but clear night to have a little fun under the lights ... initially there was only one light on however, thanks to some good ole' Korean ingenuity three others magically turned on. Kick off was delayed a bit due to some late arrivals however once the big digital clock struck 7:43 the whistle blew and the Seoul Survivors, amazingly enough, took part in a very calm, relaxed, dare I say jovial match of footy with Korea University. Due to numbers we were able to play 12s (we wanted 15s ... they wanted 10s, it seemed like a good compromise), the line up was as follows ...

Our five man pack was lead by Allen, Beau and Tobias in the front row with Mustin Mackson making his return to the survivors in the locks along side Rafa. The backline had a bit more beef in it, Richard Jang dawned the number 9 while Troy Polamalu ... crap, I mean Phil ran fly half, Mona and yours truly manned the centers, Jimmy Hendricks and Ian guarded our wings and Hyun Chul was our last line of defense at fullback.

The first 20 minute period was a bit of a stale mate ... each team scored two converted tries. The highlight of the first half was watching Jimmy Hendricks run 75 meters from his left wing across the field to the right wing to prevent a try. As the ball was knocked on Hendricks got up beating his chest, proclaiming "THIS IS MY HOUSE ... NOT IN MY HOUSE ... NOT IN MY HOUSE!!!" A few of the boys took the time to point out to Hendricks that we were in fact playing in the Tiger Dome, as it is now called, and that this was not his house but we did appreciate the effort.

The second period was once again back and forth. Korea University used one of its life lines and called in several of their 1st teamers for the remainder of the nights activities ... their fullback, hooker, fly half and inside center mysteriously became much stronger between the period break. Dean Dawson made a brief appearance at inside center for Mona who cramped up a bit however Mona found his way back onto the pitch and was able to touch down two tries to give the Survivors a five point lead going into the final period.

The final period was when the Survivors finished the job ... tries by Phil and Hyun Chul put the Survivors in the drivers seat for the remainder of the evening. The highlight of the third frame had to have been when Justin, who found himself replacing Ian on the wing, got the ball, after a fine display of a Kimchi ball off the scrum and sound technical hands out to the wing, and proceeded to run directly into touch.
