Arriving at the Zoo
Arriving at the Zoo
A recent visit to Seoul Grand Park saw the Seoul Survivors take the girls from Sundeok Orphanage on a day trip to the zoo. It was a great day, with beautiful weather, lots of animals to see and yummy ice-creams.

Having fun!

After a leisurely walk around the zoo, we all stopped at the dolphin show to watch some live entertainment, before heading off to a Chinese restaurant to indulge in some ja-jang-myeon (a real favorite with the kids).

A great day was had by all, and I'm sure everyone is looking forward to the next trip and a chance to spend even more time with some really great kids!

Tom & Jodie Arrive in Seoul
Tom & Jodie Arrive in Seoul
This weekend the Seoul Survivors have been playing host (thanks Nick!) to Tom & Jodie. They are Cycling to the Rugby World Cup and are pretty much half way through their 25,000km journey. They left Twickenham on May 1st 2010 and are aiming to arrive in New Zealand in time to watch the Rugby World Cup.

They arrived in Incheon just a couple of days ago, spent the weekend in Seoul and are aiming to get to Busan around midday on Sunday, before catching a ferry across the East Sea to Japan and continuing on down through Asia. They will be cycling on average 100km a day and having spent more than 3 weeks enduring winter in the Chinese desert are not worried by the cold weather in Korea!

Happy after a hard day's skating
Happy after a hard day's skating
Having finished their Movember fund raising, the Survivors immediately put the money raised to good use. A trip to the Mokdong Ice Rink with the girls from the Sun Duk Orphanage saw more than ten of the guys turn out to show off their skills on the ice.

The girls had a great time - for some of them it was their first time in ice skates, and the guys did a great job showing them the ropes. Special mention goes out to Jordan Smigelsky, who shipped his skates all the way from Canada especially for the occasion. The ice-skating was followed by dinner at a nearby restaurant and some gifts from Santa. Here are a few of the girls showing their appreciation.

Movember 2010 a Great Success

The mo's on show!
The mo's on show!
As reported in the Korea Times, the Survivors have again raised over 4 million won for charity. Their Movember fund-raising activities have again done the business, with over 20 guys stepping up to grow a mo' for charity.

This year 'round it is planned to split the money between two good causes; the Sun Duk Orphanage (a girls orphanage out near Incheon) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation (to take school supplies to North Korea). We're sure all the money raised will be put to good use and will make a real difference.

Thanks to everyone that took part!
