The Seoul Colts, reinforced by players from the Survivors and Han River Pirates, finished a credible second in the Korean Touch Association's final tournament of the year at Jamwon on Saturday.
The team swept through pool play winning all three of their matches to qualify top of the group. The Colts had to dig deep to prevail in a sudden death ‘drop-off’ during a controversial semi-final match up where the team were often left scratching their heads at some of the referee's decisions.
In the final the team faced an experienced Hangang Exiles line-up and produced a match well worthy of the occasion. The teams couldn’t be separated during normal time, so, with the score locked at 3 touchdowns apiece the teams once again went into sudden death overtime. In a tense final few minutes, with both teams reduced to three players via the drop off system, a crucial offensive error gifted possession to the Exiles inside the Colts half enabling them to score the tournament winning touchdown.
The individual star of the day for the Colts was 12 year old, Blaise Barnes, whose elusive running and massive sidestep left many of his opponents clutching at thin air. |

 | | The Trophies | The Survivors sent a lot of players to the ITS this weekend, to play a format of rugby some of the guys are fairly unfamiliar with - Touch Rugby. The event was a good chance for the boys to have a run around, practice some ball skills, and network a little with other rugby players from around Korea and Asia. Most of the local teams could be seen sporting a few Survivors players, with some of our guys playing in both the men's and mixed divisions.

At the business end of things; the Survivors' 1st team put in a good showing to make it to the semi-finals of the men's division. They were leading Hong Kong Thunder (the eventual winners) with 5 minutes to go, before Thunder managd to pull off a couple of tricks to snatch the win. The Survivors' Colts team also had a good run. They lost all their pool games, but showed some good skills, and scored a few good tries. In the mixed division, Survivors' Nathan Atkins led 'Tits for Hands' to victory, beating NUS from Singapore in the finals.
Overall, the day was a great success. Great weather, and soft grass pitches, gave the boys a chance for a good work-out as they build up towards the fall Yellow Sea Cup and Oakwood Cup fixtures. |

With conflicting rugby events this weekend, the Survivors just managed to drag together a touch rugby team for the 1st Touch Series Event, in Seoul, South Korea. The Survivors battled their way through five games of touch rugby to make it to the finals! However, a lack of players led to a tired Survivors team losing out to the Dutch Rudders, 4-1.

The first of many Spire Touch Rugby Tournaments kicked off on Saturday 21st March at the Jamwon rugby pitch on the banks of the glorious Han River, here in Seoul, South Korea.
The Survivors, as always, sent a squad to represent us against 11 other teams of varying quality: ranging from our arch-rivals and the always challenging Double Dutch Rudders (formerly Te Wai Pounamu) to completely beginner squads such as the Seoul Gaels who are looking to muscle in on the touch rugby fields from their traditional sport of Gaelic football. The Survivors were light on experience but bustling with enthusiasm. Led capably by Tim and Roddy, the boys went down to the Double Dutch Rudders 5-0 and received a good lesson in support play and quick play the balls. Next up saw some victories against the Ulsan Uglies, Seoul Gaels, Suwon Stormers and the Seoul Sisters. The pool games were probably a bit more laboured than they needed to be but they ensured that we reached the business end of the tournament without too much trouble.
