To those who were not there!!!!!
Seoul blessed as with a gloriously pollution free day on saturday and the field was grassy and as hard as concrete.
the day started with the sisters who played an entertaining game, with some great defense and scoring moments!!!
The main game- the first 20 would have to have been all survivors with the forwards Buffalo & Big Ben,Matt's, sunjin(the new enforcer), Jeff,Stacey and Buckman(the workhorse) & the rest gaining good yards from the start, the left hand side was peppered with strong runs from Craigy(poor bastard got nailed 1st touch and was taken off, twisted knee),berni & Jacob. The pressure mounted and the try's started to come the first 2 were both huge team efforts with the forwards retaining & recycling the ball well and then through at least 6 pairs of hands to be finished of on the right wing(easiest try's of my life- can't thank u enough). But then then we took the foot off and the Crabs forwards started to come back hard, with some scrappy lineouts goin against us, alot field position saw the crabs grab a try back with ten to go. They spread the ball from with in their own half and there Aussie NRL player(in the early 90s though)found some space between me and chief dumied and was within our22 before we could blink he then drew 3 defenders only too offload and they we in under the posts..
10-12 -- half time
The heat was taking its toll and another injury to SA Chris(fractured wrist) left us with only 1 back reserve!!! Have time was a somber affair but words were said and the boys regrouped.
Straight out of the blocks and the pressure was all on us again the Crabs french forward pack was strating to gain strength and the sneaky buggers found a gapping hole from a scrum 30 out - they were in for there 3 under the posts. The great wordsmith Roddy pulls us in and gave as a good assessment of our performance and we were soon ready to go again,The forwards were ready to earn their beers for this half and on the back of their inspirational play we were down in the crabs danger zone. Heads lifted and the crowd sensed the turn in the game. With some tactical back line rearrangements one of the heavily drilled plays paid off, Little chris(voted MVP) was giving perfect ball all day and again it was in the hands of new recruit mason whose deft inside pass and Roddy's big Don't argue palm lead to him puttin it under the posts for our first converted try!!!
17-19 and still behind---
Hang on i think I missed a penlty by the crabs which put them 3 more up- Wheres the stats when u need them!!!! so its 17-22 and we need a converted try to win ! But the pressure was back on us as, a few mistakes were made in our half,( I knocked on real bad) and for a good 10 min we held our line valeintly(Yes poor spellin), Every one lifted and the replacement forwards came on and tackeled their hearts out-with both bens and matts and stacey & Buckman playin full games- The lineouts were a mess but they came together when it counted and we were up in the crabs half!!!!! in their half with less then 10 to go the crabs held the survivors well, the forwards threw everything at them and then the backs did- it went on for eternity until Jacob made a strong angled run toward the posts from the right wing. He brushed of a few defenders and launced himself at the line carrying one poor crab over !! There it was the decider clenched by Jacob in his last game for the Survivors, Sam was also on for his last game an made some good runs from the back line when the crabs mounted their last raids. One big hit Nick the dick laid on one crab turned a possible try scoring attack over to us and everyone lifted and we held them out for a good vicvtory.. It was a game of 2 halves and if their was a score board guy he would of had a busy day, momentum switched all day and the heat knocked everyone about!!! There was no malice in the game and the ref did a wicked job- the crabs were gracious in their loss and were sure they would turn it around in the fall!
A 10s game was had after with a few players continuing on and the highlight was watching the new breed of survivors in the fray with the likes of JK, Wyang, Nick the pomme and Dwights buddy(sorry I forgot ur name) and the others puttin on a strong performance, the crabs took that one by a few!! Ian came on and also put on a stella performance!!!
that night beers were had by all and a big feast- THANKS KEN
those bloody boks beat the world - with penalties- HOW BORING
and well it went on & on
thanks to all those who came out and we are looking forward to headin over to China to finish the job in hope of grabing the Yellow Sea Cup for a consecutive year!!!!!!!
Oh yeah well done Ted(coach ) ya really ned a clip board to help emphasize(Spellin who cares) ya commands & to Dwight up on the stand filmin and drinkin- WELL DONE did ya get me try (s) on film!!!!~
