A group of Seoul Survivors and friends went out to Sun Duk Girls' Orphanage on Sunday May 23rd for some fun and games. We joined the kids in watching some traditional Korean music followed by some games and songs. We originally planned to have a big Barbeque outside but due to rain we moved the festivities inside and ordered in some dinner. On a fundraising note Nanta Theater was kind enough to donate some tickets to help raise some money through our weekly raffles. Nanta has also graciously invited the kids and Survivors to come out and see the show which is something that we will all be looking forward to! |

The Seoul Survivors have decided to use the money raised from our Movember fundraiser to go towards four events spread out over the course of 2010, with each event benefiting the kids from Sunduk Girls Orphanage. With that being said we had the first community event of 2010 on March 14th. Survivors and friends accompanied the girls from Sunduk Orphanage to CGV in Yongsan to watch Alice in Wonderland in glorious 3D. A great time was had by all and everyone is looking forward to the next event which is scheduled for May 23rd. On that day a group of survivors will make the trip out to the orphanage and enjoy some traditional Korean performances followed by a big BBQ outside and games. |

For the entire month of November members of the Seoul Survivors Rugby Club have been putting their mustache growing ability to the test for charity. During this time these gentlemen raised money by showing off their hairy upper lip to the world. This past Sunday Mo-vember participants and friends gathered at Scrooges Pub in Itaewon for our Mo-vember Charity Shave Off.

Movember is a charity event in which men can grace their upper lip with the wild furs that once made us men. It is also an opportunity to raise money for a community project that is near and dear to our hearts. In Australia and NZ, Movember was started as a way to raise awareness of men’s health problems, specifically testicular cancer and depression. The Seoul Survivors, however, have decided to get behind the Seondeokwon (선덕원) Girls Orphanage.

The Survivors made their first visit to Sun Duk Girls' Orphanage this weekend: 선덕원 / Sun Duk Girls' Orphanage
Special thanks to Jin, Simon, Brian, Jordan, Justin, Tim, Tucker and their partners who went along.
According to all involved it was a long but satisfactory and enjoyable day. The lads turned up bearing gifts of toy tanks and helicopters only to find out it was a girls' orphanage. Oh well, it's the thought that counts and I'm sure they were appreciative nonetheless.
