Playoffs: Click here for photos

After all the ifs, buts and maybees, the Playoffs finally got played off.

In spite of Moose's emails, Casey didn't appear and with all the OPSEC we will probably never know where they were! Ever able to think on their feet, the officials quickly shifted the schedule to a 3 team round robin in which Osan beat Humphreys very comprehensively and then about an hour later Survivors also beat Humphrey's, slightly more comprehensively. All leading to an Osan- Survivors final game under the floodlights.

Osan have improved greatly during the season with Andre and Greg working them hard, and recently the addition of their Orcas inside centre and Academy scrum half have made them real contenders.

Seoul, have been magnificent during the season, but hampered heavily by injuries from Cambodia and denied the availability of other key players because of the Saturday timing, the key question was whether ,on this day (evening) their 10 man squad could compete with Osan.

Four tries in the first period,2 from Doug and one a piece from Austin and Ruddie, quickly gave the answer. The 22-0 half time scoreline, suggests that the game was one sided. Not so. The 10s format converts a narrow edge into more points that the regular 15s game. Osan were very competitive throughout and the Survs had to play very good retention rugby to eventually find the defensive gaps, and crucially out wide the pace of Doug and Bok newcomer Ruddie had just enough margin to get them clear.

The second half continued at the same competitive and physical level and we went 10 mins without further points until Ruddie went over on the left. By now Neil was becoming more and more prominent both as a ball winner at the breakdown and increasingly as a central playmaker and his 2 tries were the final scores of the day,the last a delightful chip and regather over the defense with a 30 yrd run in to the posts.

Hats off also to Austin who in Ted's absence captained and guided the squad excellently and also thanks to both sides for the hard physical aspect of the play, which never crossed the line.

The final score ended at 39-0 but all in all a good physical and competitive game and an excellent advert for the CFKRA.

The Championship Shield and the Select 15 plaques (see details in the attachment) were presented and then it was off for the Hornsbys, regards Joe

Week 10: All week 10 games were forfeited.
Week 9b: The travelling road show, found it's way to Yongsan on Sunday..............and for a while kept travelling!

Early arrivers Casey and the ref headed for the Gift shop pitch to find it occupied by North American Indians playing Lacrosse. Firewater and beads were exchanged and the Lacrosse players upped goals and moved................just as word came in that the Survs were clearing the soccer players of the lush green grass of Collier field. The better grass prevailed and eventually all gathered at Collier.

Yongsan(their 2 players) as is their wont forfieted their game with Hump and also the outstanding postponed game with Survs from week 6,and league points were adjusted.

The Osan- Survivors league game was a cracker, with the Survivors out to avenge their 27-5 single league defeat and Osan looking for the double. The 55-0 score suggests a Survivors walk over but the Osan midfield of Skippy, plus an academy FH and an incoming Orca, together with a hard driving pack lead by Andre made them work for every try.

The first half saw Nigel just hit the touch-line on a long break out run, with tries then following from Kevin,Murray 2,Greg and Repi.Ted hit one conversion and Repi 2. Osan were still very competitive, but after the break the tries kept flowing, from Brian 2,Murray and Nigel, with Ted and Repi adding a conversion a piece.

Overall a good clean game adding to the reputation of the CFKRA.

Yours truly then had to jump into a car and head for another appointment, but a 15s Survivors-Mils game finished out the day.

We are coming down to the wire, with only 2 league games left next week.

Survivors have completed their games and cannot now be beaten in the league on 27 points and 45 tries.Hump with a game to play and on 21 points are second with Osan 3rd and Casey 4th.

The individual points race has Repi on 48 and Ted on 45 and Murray is leading try scorer on 7.

Regards Joe
Week 9a: Last week-end communication in the land of the morning cum,was sorely stretched.
Week 9 had been postponed and the fill in game was the Osan Flyers versus the Survivors.

Osan's only designated driver, who shall remain nameless and legless sufferred a minor injury so the Flyers were grounded.

Meanwhile the postponement email had reached Casey, but unfortunately no one on the list had sufficiently high rank to have a mandatory redating qualification. So the lads in the strange grey uniforms dutifully turned up at Yongsan.

No sweat,Survivors and Casey had a great game ,with Yankee scoring for the Greys and many people scoring for the Survs.Austin crossed 3 times and new guys Nigel(2),Doug(3) and John(2),played some good stuff. Panasonic replay was Moose and his superbly organised short penalty team.

See ypou all on Sunday, regards joe
Week 8: Seoul Survivors defeated Camp casey in a hard fought match in Round 8 of the CKKRA series. After being tied-up nil-all at half-time, the Survivors scored three second-half tries to win 15-0. For the Survivors, second rower Greg Sharpe was a stand-out. Seoul Survivors 15 (Tries: Brendan Mullins, Austin White, Dwayne Smith) - Camp Casey 0.

Osan beat Yongsan by forfeit.

Week 7: In spite of the pouring weather sufficient crazzies got themselves to Osan HS pitch for both fixtures to be completed.Soft Green Grass has its attractions.
Hump and Casey fought a very close game(yes Austin,it could have been closer!),with Russ(2) and Austin(3) sharing 5 tries in the opening period conversions by Willy and Austin (2) made it 19-12 at the break.
In the second period Hump came back with tries by Brown and Joe,plus Joes conversion edging it to 24-19.
Austin was(I will admit) unfairly denied a levelling try that would have topped one of his strongest CFKRA performances, but since he was subbing maybe justice was served.
The rain had slowed all through the first game giving perferct conditions for the Osan-Survivors clash. With many of their regulars out of town, and many of their players subbing in the opening game the league leaders were never in the hunt.
Osan ran in tries from Andre(2).Adrian Skip and Tim,with a sole second half reply from Moose(AKA Red Bull),29-5
Week 6: Humphreys and Casey managed to field their Week 6 game last week with Hump winning 20-10 4 tries to 2.
With Survivors not playing but holding a game in hand Hump have edged up in the league, which now stand at Survivors 16,Hump 12,Osan 9 Casey 7 and Yonsan 2
Week 5: The travelling road show was glad to be back in action after a 3 week break,as evidenced by the Survivors/Yongsan group arrival by subway/train after the Austinmobile failed to show.Humph had the longer but more comfortable trip, with frothy beverages as always to hand.
2ID had done their job and the Burger King field had patches of grass here and there, mainly there.
The first game,a Survivors-Hump 10s league game was a corker with the final score running up to 48-10.Repi had a field day scoring 4 tries and 3 conversions,Bernie wizzed over twice with the rest coming from Murray and Ted.In spite of the score humph kept fully competitive throught and managed tries from Andre and Cameron.
The league has clearly benifited from the Survivors revival this year and their solid forward play from Ted,Neil,Donny ,Hymie and others is now supplemented by crisp back play from the likes of Repi,Bernie and Murray.Pianoman now has backs to benifit from his SH moves.
Although being beaten each week, there is no doubt that the Mil sides quality of play is being lifted by their constant exposure to good open fast rugby.
The second 10s game of Casey-Yongsan was forfeited by Yongsan and replaced by a full 15s game between the new Casey side and a combined Survivor/Humph 15.Casey in spite of their unique grey rugby shirts acquitted themselves and limited their stronger visitors to only 14-5,Noah Steve and Jamie crossing for the winners and Hucks scoring a popular try for the home side.
Survivors are stretching away with 16 league points with Osan and Humph both on 8.Individually from the league games Ted has 41 points, but Repi closed up this week to 37 with Bernie at 25 and Duke and Murray on 20.
